Amid Record High Illegal Immigration, Kamala Harris Claims ‘We Have A Secure Border’
Amid record high illegal immigration, Vice President Kamala Harris claimed during an interview with NBC host Chuck Todd that the United States has a “secure border.”
“We had 2 million people come across this border for the first time ever,” Todd asked. “You’re confident this border is secure?”
“We have a secure border in that that is a priority for any nation, including ours and our administration,” Harris claimed. “But there are still a lot of problems that we are trying to fix given the deterioration that happened over the last four years. We also have to put into place a law and a plan for a pathway for citizenship for the millions of people who are here and are prepared to do what is legally required to gain citizenship.”

In early 2021, President Biden placed Harris in charge of the border crisis. Harris then went nearly 100 days without visiting the border as illegal immigration levels continued to rise to record highs.
Harris’ decision to avoid the border drew criticism, pushing her to falsely claim that she had visited the border while it was under her purview. For example, during an interview with NBC News’ Lester Holt she said she was going to the border “at some point, you know,” before repeatedly lying by saying, “We’ve been to the border. So this whole thing about the border. We’ve been to the border. We’ve been to the border.”
“You haven’t been to the border,” Holt pointed out.
“And I haven’t been to Europe.” Harris snapped.
