Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was one viewer of the vice-presidential debate last night as was evidenced by her disdain for vice president Pence referring to her as “AOC.” In a series of tweets Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wrote “For the record @Mike_Pence, it’s Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez to you.”

Ocasio-Cortez is largely referred to as “AOC” in the media but clearly, she did not appreciate it coming from Pence. She continued to lambast the vice president: “Why is it that Mike Pence doesn’t seem to have to answer any of the questions asked of him in this debate?” she wrote. Upset at how she was addressed, she wanted to show a lack of respect back by calling him “Mike Pence” instead of vice president.

AOC also was upset about what she deemed as “gender dynamics” during the debate. “Pence demanding that Harris answer *his* own personal questions when he won’t even answer the moderator’s is gross, and exemplary of the gender dynamics so many women have to deal with at work” AOC tweeted. As the single male on the national stage of a vice presidential debate, it seems like “gender dynamics” are pretty darn good.

Then came climate change. When Pence discussed the Green New Deal, AOC’s pride and joy, she lost it. Vice president Pence said, “Now, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris would put us back in the Paris climate accord, they’d impose the Green New Deal, which would crush American energy, would increase the energy costs of American families in their homes, and literally crush American jobs.”

AOC responded, “The Green New Deal is and has been lied about nonstop, and yet is STILL popular. It’s a massive job-creation and infrastructure plan to decarbonize & increase quality of work and life. It’s okay to call the GOP out on those lies just as we call them out on all their other lies.”

Ocasio-Cortez even got a little testy with Senator Harris. Harris attempted to defend former vice president Joe Biden’s flip-flopping remarks on fracking; “The American people know Joe Biden will not back fracking. That is a fact. That is a fact.” In one line, AOC tweeted, “fracking is bad, actually.”

  1. Perhaps if the, ahem, Congresswoman would address the Vice President with his title and perhaps if she ever said anything truthful or worthwhile, people may show her respect.
BTW, glad you are with us Mr. Terrell! God bless you!

  2. Really suggests you have nothing going on if you have to harp on people about using your title to make you sound important. Confident people don’t need that ego boost.

  3. When people begin demanding that they are addressed by their title, it shows that they are not respected. Aoc needs to learn that respect is EARNED, not just given to (much like her position in the house).

  4. Maybe he would call you Congresswoman if you weren’t such a joke and something that made sense came out of your mouth. Otherwise, go back to bartending.
