Biden Orders Father Of Student Killed In Parkland To ‘Sit Down!’ After Interruption
During a White House event celebrating new gun control legislation being signed into law on Monday, Democrat President Joe Biden ordered the father of a student killed in the 2018 Stoneman Douglas High School shooting to “sit down!” after he interrupted the president to urge for additional action on gun control.
“You have to do more than this!” interrupted Manuel Oliver, whose son Joaquin was killed in the 2018 shooting, as Biden spoke.
“Sit down!” Biden responded. “You’ll hear what I have to say.”
“You have to open an office in the White House!” Oliver continued. “I’ve been trying to tell you this for years! And years!”
Biden told the audience to let Oliver talk, but Oliver was quickly escorted out of the event.
Oliver explained to the Miami Herald that he interrupted the event because “it was my chance to say something to the president, and that’s a chance we don’t have every single day. That’s pretty much what this is about.”
“There’s nothing to celebrate,” Oliver continued. “It’s a big lie. We lie between ourselves thinking we have a solution to this when we actually don’t. “There was no need for this event at all.”
Oliver additionally tweeted before the event, “The word CELEBRATION has no space in a society that saw 19 kids massacred just a month ago. ‘Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years.’ Not me, not Joaquin.”
