Hispanic Congressional Candidate Selling Shirt Inspired By Jill Biden’s ‘Taco’ Comment
On Tuesday, Republican Congressional candidate Cassy Garcia for Texas’ heavily Hispanic 28th district revealed a new shirt inspired by First Lady Jill Biden’s recent comments comparing the diversity of the Hispanic community to tacos.
Garcia posted a picture of her wearing the shirt on Twitter which says, “unique as a taco.” She also took a shot at her Democrat opponent in the caption.
“Woke Democrats think Hispanics are tacos. Unfortunately for them, we’re voters,” Garcia captioned the post.
“Help me beat Joe Biden’s ‘Latinx’ puppet,” she added, referring to her opponent incumbent Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX).

Garcia’s shirt was inspired by comments made by Jill Biden during an event called the “Latinx IncluXion Luncheon” on Monday. Biden had said that the diversity of the Hispanic community is “as distinct as the bodegas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami, and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio, is your strength.”

The First Lady’s comments prompted wide backlash, forcing Biden to issue an apology on Twitter.
“The First Lady apologizes that her words conveyed anything but pure admiration and love for the Latino community,” Michael LaRosa, press secretary to the first lady and special assistant to the president, tweeted.
