Watch out AOC, there’s a new squad on the block.
Shortly after the 2018 election, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez formed ‘The Squad,’ a group of four women elected to the House of Representatives.
Made up of AOC herself, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, ‘The Squad’ has become the definition of left-wing progressive, socialist ideals.
But, an incoming Republican member of Congress from New York says a new-and-improved squad may be in the works.
Staten Island Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis won New York’s 11th District Congressional race last week against incumbent Rep. Max Rose – her campaign focused primarily on law and order and her opposition to socialism.
And now, she is ready to take on the socialist narrative in the nation’s capital.
“An anti-socialist squad is forming…,” Malliotakis tweeted.

Malliotakis’ mother is from Cuba, propelling her passionate anti-socialist views
“I still have relatives that live in Cuba,” she told City&State New York in an interview.
“I know the oppression that they live under. We need to do what we can as a nation to continue to be the leader of the free world and try to promote freedom and democracy everywhere. It’s certainly something of interest to me as the daughter of a Cuban refugee,” she continued.
Malliotakis also discussed being one of the few Cuban-Americans elected to Congress.
“There’s going to be a Cuban Caucus there. I think it’s important, because Cuban-Americans know more than anyone what socialism and communism mean and are very vigilant when it comes to individuals who want to take away any freedoms or liberties or move us down a path to socialism,” she urged.
“Our voices are going to be significant,” she said. “We may have a little anti-socialist squad forming in Congress.”
Her opponent, Rose, is one of 10 House Democrats that lost their seat to a Republican in the 2020 election, despite their explosive confidence that there would be a “blue wave” on Election Day.
