Lincoln statue celebrating emancipation of slaves removed by Boston leaders

Ironically, the statue was funded by former slaves who wanted to honor Lincoln, according to the National Park Service.

Abraham Lincoln is considered by many to be one of the greatest presidents in the history of our great nation.

Perhaps his greatest legacy is saving the union and abolishing slavery.

But, a Lincoln statue in Boston celebrating the emancipation of slaves was removed Tuesday after standing in Park Square since 1879.

The bronze statue, which is a replica of a monument in Washington D.C., was taken down in efforts to appease the demands of those offended by the image, which shows a freed black slave at the feet of the president, BizPacReview reports.

“A race set free and the country at peace. Lincoln rests from his labors,” reads the inscription at the base of both statues, meant to celebrate the freeing of slaves.

The Emancipation Memorial was removed from the park following a months-long debate, which included thousands of petition signatures. The Boston Arts Commission voted unanimously to have the statue taken down.

“After engaging in a public process, it’s clear that residents and visitors to Boston have been uncomfortable with this statue, and its reductive representation of the Black man’s role in the abolitionist movement,” Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said in a statement.

Ironically, the statue was funded by former slaves who wanted to honor Lincoln, according to the National Park Service.

Controversy stemmed from the positioning of the freed slave depicted in the statue. The shirtless man before Lincoln, based on the real former slave Archer Alexander, is seen rising to his feet, broken shackles on his wrists, to symbolize his new freedom.

But, critics say the image is demeaning because it shows the man kneeling before the white man who freed him.

“We’re pleased to have it taken down this morning,” a spokeswoman for Boston’s mayor said in a statement, CNN reports.

“As expressed by so many during the public process this year, we fully agree that the statue should be relocated to a new publicly accessible location where its history and context can be better explained,” she added. “The decision for removal acknowledges the statue’s role in perpetuating harmful prejudices and obscuring the role of Black Americans in shaping the nation’s fight for freedom.”

This serves as just one of many examples of the left trying to erase and rewrite history.

Cancel culture is real, and it’s scary.

I like to think they are protecting certain statues by placing them elsewhere. It’s fine if they’re under wraps for a few years until all this socialist s—t blows over—and it will.

Gordon, if the FREEDOM-LOVING people don’t step up and tell these fools NO, you can kiss the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA good-bye. Because if you destroy or erase history, you might just wake up one morning and find yourself in chains. ‘PAPERS, PLEASE!

When will the leaders of these cities just say NO! Enough is enough, they just let these far left liberals, cancel culturists, do whatever they want. These monuments have stood where they are for decades and we’re fine. The history of this country is not perfect, but a person can not just act like it did not happen. Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves, he did not enslave them, I believe that was the democrats that did that, so are they just going to rewrite what actually happened? That is the same thing that has happened to the college kids today, they only know what the liberal professors tell them over and over again, that the USA was built on racism and hatred! So many college kids want socialism, but if you ask them what exactly that is they do not know!

Amen brother. Emancipated slaves started their careers with no money, yet donated from their first earnings to make this statue possible. Now the left wants to steal it from all Americans in order to create more dissension. Thank you for shedding light on this Mr Terrell.

Yep a prime example of how successful the Dems propaganda has been in changing our nations history and throwing shade on the good stuff etc. People think that statue was bad; keep on reading. Since 1901 Congress has come up with 240 such laws and none were sent to the sitting President. Seven Presidents from Harrison to Truman have asked for Congress to send them anti-lynching legislation and Congress has not done so. Currently there are two bills in Congress. The House bill, the Emmett Till Anti-Lynching Act is in the Senate and has been since July 2019. Sen Rand Paul (R) KY objected to it and said it needs to be rewritten. Under Senate rules it is dead in its tracks. In February 2019 the Senate sent the Justice for Victims Act to the House. In House approved the bill and placed in on the Union Calendar in July 2019 where is has been ever since. This bill was co-authored by VP-elect Kamala Harris, Sen Cory Booker and Sen Tim Scott. Nobody is talking about these two bills. Not Congress, not the NAACP, not the Congressional Black Caucus and not anybody in the media. Not ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, HLN, MSNBC, FOX. No radio personalities have brought the subject up. Newspapers from New York to California have not printed any stories on this failure. But what the heck, the Civil War has only been over for 155 years.

I do not agree with removing it but at least it went through a public process and will be removed to a public accessible location. The Hungarians did a similar thing in Budapest removing all soviet communist statuary to a public accessible park where visitors could see them. But the cancel culture movement must be stopped, the destroyed statuary replaced and the rioters punished. They are now in our schools indoctrinating our children. There can be no compromise, no hesitation, no capitulation. Freedom, Liberty, Prosperity.

Chicago 911 Dispatcher says ‘All Hell Has Broken Loose’ Crime is ‘Nonstop’

The liberal run city of Chicago is in a downward spiral suffocated by crime. Few understand what is happening better than 911 dispatchers who have the impossible task of listening to people suffer through crimes, yet unable to help them due to liberal policies creating a violent crime epidemic and police shortage.

Keith Thornton posted a video to Facebook last week saying Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is “a disgrace.” Thornton took it upon himself to warn citizens about which Chicago police district is unavailable due to the staffing shortages.

In an interview with Fox & Friends Thornton said that “all hell has broken loose” in Chicago while local officials have failed to act. “It’s been shenanigans, and it’s just nonstop, day after day. It doesn’t matter if it’s morning time, evening time, whatever –at all hours of the day, there is a massive amount of crime taking place within the city of Chicago.”

“When I’m getting text messages from officers telling me that they’re scared and afraid for their safety because they’re working by themselves, and then the beat next to them would normally back them up, they’re not even there because the cars are down. That’s a problem. It’s a safety concern” Thornton said in an interview with Chicago’s WLS-TV.

Chicago Police Department data shows homicides, shootings, thefts and criminal sexual assaults are all up drastically compared to last year. Lightfoot has not only been a proponent of defunding the police, she also behaved viciously towards law enforcement.

After Chicago Police Officer Ella French was killed during a routine traffic stop, Lightfoot blamed “guns and the violence they bring” for her death. When Lightfoot visited French’s partner who was wounded and fighting for his life at the time at the hospital, dozens of officers at the hospital turned their back on the mayor.

It’s Raining Lawsuits on Jussie Smollett; City of Chicago and Nigerian Brothers Suing Actor

The City of Chicago has confirmed it will be suing disgraced actor Jussie Smollett. The lawsuit will seek the $130,106.15 “to cover an overtime tab racked up by dozens of officers tasked with investigating Smollett’s claims that he was the victim of an attack”, reports Daily Mail UK.

According to the legal filing, the Chicago Department came to the conclusion to pursue the lawsuit after over two dozen cops spent weeks investigating the fake attack and logged 1,836 hours of overtime as a result.

Daily Mail also noted the Osundairo brothers who were hired by Smollett to stage his attack, plan to continue with their own lawsuit against Smollett’s legal team. According to the Daily Mail, “they’re seeking undisclosed damages after claiming their careers and reputations were damaged in the high-profile hoax.”

After the initial set of charges were dropped against the brothers, Abel and Ola Osundairo, they sued Smollett’s attorneys in April 2019, claiming their careers and reputations were damaged. “They claimed in the defamation lawsuit against lawyers Mark Geragos and Tina Glandian that they were maliciously portrayed as liars in the public” reports Daily Mail.

The lawsuit specifically references how Smollett’s attorneys suggested the brothers ‘might have been wearing white face’ when they attacked him and inferred that Abel had a sexual relationship with Smollett. Abel’s home country of Nigeria prohibits homosexuality. ‘Same-sex sexual activity is illegal in Nigeria, which can result in 14 years of imprisonment…if the accused is married the punishment is death by stoning.’

Therefore, Ms. Glandian’s statements about the brother being a homosexual ‘endangers him and the lives of his Nigerian family’ the lawsuit stated. The brothers’ lawsuit was stayed by a federal judge until the criminal proceedings for Smollett are completed. The brothers’ legal team is expected to file an update to the court by February 2.

Smollett, 39, was just convicted on five counts of disorderly conduct for faking his own attack and now faces jail time. “His sentencing date has not yet been set but he faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.”
