Pelosi Denies Request To Immediately Pass SCOTUS Security Bill

Nancy Pelosi

The House will not hold a vote this week on a bill to improve security for Supreme Court Justices after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) denied House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy‘s (R-CA) second unanimous consent request to immediately pass the bill on Thursday following an assassination attempt on Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

“We had hoped that we could do it today but we certainly will do it at the beginning of next week,” Pelosi told reporters on Thursday.

Pelosi also claimed that the justices are already protected, and snapped at a reporter who pointed out that there was just an attempted assassination on Justice Kavanaugh.

“The justices are protected. This issue is not about the justices, it’s about staff and the rest. The justices are protected; you saw the attorney general even double down on that,” Pelosi claimed.

The bipartisan bill to improve security for Supreme Court Justices — which was sponsored by Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) —passed the Senate unanimously last month but was blocked by House Democrats. The bill would have provided the justices with security protection similar to the protection given to members of the legislative and executive branches.

The day before Pelosi claimed “the justices are protected,” a man armed with a pistol and other weapons was arrested outside Justice Kavanaugh’s home and was charged with “Attempts to kidnap or murder, or threatens to assault, kidnap or murder a United States Judge, to wit: a current Justice of the United States Supreme Court.”

The man, Nicholas John Roske, intended to kill Kavanaugh and then commit suicide according to FBI special agent Ian Montijo.

“Roske then told the detective that he was upset about the leak of a recent Supreme Court draft decision regarding the right to abortion as well as the recent school shooting in Uvalde, Texas,” Montijo wrote in the criminal complaint. “Roske indicated that the Justice that he intended to kill would side with Second Amendment decisions that would loosen gun control laws.”

“Roske stated that he began thinking about how to give his life a purpose and decided that he would kill the Supreme Court Justice after finding the Justice’s Montgomery County address on the Internet. Roske further indicated that he had purchased the Glock pistol and the other items for the purpose of breaking into the Justice’s residence and killing the Justice as well as himself,” Montijo added.

So obvious question. If he flew from California to Maryland, he obviously didn’t have that bag of weapons with him on the plane. Which means he either knew someone in Maryland or somehow got that bag. Anyone else think the contents of the bag weird if he was planning on killing the justice and himself. Is this a setup?

Wow, is she hoping something will happen over the weekend? Or does she have a hair appointment right after work?
Ms. Holier than Thou has spoken. Let Justice Cavanaugh and esp. Justice Thomas and his family eat cake and wait for security reinforcements. After all, they were also “protected” when their possible abortion decision was leaked, right? Nobody found any of their houses and stood outside, right?
How the heck is Cavanaugh’s address searchable? I thought once that judge’s Salas’ son and husband were shot at home that laws were buckling down on judges personal info being able to be searchable.

If any Supreme Court justices are injured or killed because of her inaction she should be held accountable as an accessory to murder and executed.

Hold Pelosi liable as an accomplice if a Supreme Court Judge is murdered. She is aiding and abetting lawlessness for political purposes.

I lived communism so I know how they behave. There is no difference in the lying, the corruption, the manipulation of the institutions, etc, but when they acieve absolute power, they do not need to pretend anymore unless you are from another country. They already corrupt the internal revenue, the fbi, cia, pentagon, doj, the only institution they havent corrupt but are trying is the Supreme Court. The Republican Party thing they are dealing with the same problems of the past and do not realize what they are confronting, but I had lived this future and I know the resolts. The blindness of the politicians and the corruption of the journalist is the destruction of the country

Gunman In Highland Park Shooting Was ‘Dressed In Women’s Clothing’

The suspected gunman who opened fire at a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, Illinois, on Monday was wearing women’s clothing as a disguise, police announced Tuesday.

The attack killed six people and injured dozens more, according to Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek. The suspect, 22-year-old Robert E. Crimo III, was apprehended by police later that day near Lake Forest, Illinois.

“During the attack, Crimo was dressed in women’s clothing,” said Sgt. Christopher Covelli, of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force, FOX 10 reported. “Investigators do believe he did this to conceal his facial tattoos and his identity and help him during the escape with the other people who were fleeing the chaos.”

“He brought a high-powered rifle to this parade,” Covelli said. “He accessed the roof of a business via a fire escape ladder and began opening fire on the innocent Independence Day celebration-goers.”

“After the shooting, Crimo blended in with the crowd and walked to his mother’s home in the area where he borrowed her vehicle, Covelli said. A member of the community spotted Crimo driving and called 911,” FOX 10 reported. “Crimo was pulled over and arrested during a traffic stop about five miles north of the shooting.”

Investigators have interrogated Crimo and reviewed his social media but have not been able to determine a motive for the attack, Covelli said.

Democrats Introduce ‘Transgender Bill Of Rights’

On Tuesday, House Democrats introduced a “Transgender Bill of Rights” to “protect and codify the rights of transgender and nonbinary people under the law and ensure their access to medical care, shelter, safety, and economic security.”

Led by Democrat Reps. Pramila Jayapal (WA), David Cicilline (RI), Marie Newman (IL), Mark Takano (CA), and Ritchie Torres (NY), HR 1209 proposes “amending the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex, including gender identity and sex characteristics in public accommodations and federally funded programs and activities.”

“As we witness Republicans and an extremist Supreme Court attack and roll back the fundamental rights of trans people across our country, and as state legislatures across the country target our trans community with hateful, bigoted, and transphobic attacks, we are standing up and saying enough is enough,” said Jayapal, the chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and co-chair of the Transgender Equality Task Force.

“Our Trans Bill of Rights says clearly to the trans community across the country that we see you and we will stand with you to ensure you are protected and given the dignity and respect that every person should have,” Jayapal added.

The bill seeks to increase the ability of children to get permanent and life changing surgeries by “eliminating unnecessary governmental restrictions on the provision of, and access to, gender-affirming medical care and counseling for transgender and nonbinary adults, adolescents, and children.”

The bill will additionally ensure that biological male students are allowed to compete in girls’ sports by amending federal “education laws to ensure that they protect students from discrimination based on sex, including gender identity and sex characteristics, and guarantee students’ right to participate in sports on teams that best align with their gender identity.”

Federal education laws will also be amended to allow students to :use school facilities that best align with their gender identity,” meaning that biological males would be allowed to use girls’ restrooms and locker rooms.

The bill expands beyond “transgender rights” to also ban states from making laws restricting abortion by “codifying the right to abortion.”
