Rubio Campaign Canvasser Seriously Injured After Violent Attack For Wearing DeSantis Hat And Rubio Shirt
On Sunday night, a campaign canvasser for Republican Senator Marco Rubio (FL) suffered serious injuries after being attacked while handing out fliers, the senator’s campaign said in a statement.
“Last night one of our canvassers wearing my T-shirt and a DeSantis hat was brutally attacked by 4 animals who told him Republicans weren’t allowed in their neighborhood in Hialeah, Florida,” Rubio’s campaign posted on Twitter.
“He suffered internal bleeding, a broken jaw & will need facial reconstructive surgery,” the campaign added.

“Four individuals assaulted him, broke his nose, broke his jaw, suffered internal bleeding. We will learn more,” Rubio explained. “I can tell you this: political violence should not be tolerated by anyone. Our side, their side, we don’t tolerate political violence. In this country, we decide who governs not by street mobs, we decide who governs at the ballot box.”
According to authorities, one of the men behind the attack, Javier Lopez, “told the victim he can’t pass through the sidewalk. The victim goes onto the street, he chases him down and basically slams him to the floor, punches him multiple times,” said Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Mindy S. Glazer.
The incident comes a month after two canvassers for Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott were attacked while they were out knocking on doors.
According to News 4 San Antonio, “the suspect chased the two volunteers through the neighborhood and attempted to drag them out of their car. The suspect also punched both side view mirrors off the vehicle.”
“Police responded to the scene and identified the suspect, who left pieces of the vandalized vehicle in his trash. Harris County authorities took the suspect into custody and charged him with criminal mischief,” the outlet added.
