VP Harris: ‘Women Are Getting Pregnant Every Day In America, And This Is A Real Issue’
In a call for federal legislation to codify Roe v. Wade, Vice President Kamala Harris grieved that “women are getting pregnant every day in America” which is a “real issue” that abortion can solve.
“Listen, women are getting pregnant every day in America, and this is a real issue,” Harris said during an interview with podcast host Brian Tyler Cohen published on Sunday.
“We need to act with a sense of haste about what is at play, what is at stake, and codifying Roe will be an important moment in terms of putting back in place protections for the folks who are at risk right now because of what the Court did in Dobbs just weeks ago,” Harris added.

Last month, the Supreme Court issued a 6-3 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that overturned Roe v. Wade.
“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision, including the one on which the defenders of Roe and Casey now chiefly rely—the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment,” Justice Alito wrote in his majority opinion.
“Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences. And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division,” Alito wrote. “It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”
